Ever open up your jewelry box and feel overwhelmed? See those broken earrings you’ve been planning on getting fixed or adding a longer chain to your favourite pendant?
So, how do you get started? Here’s what I do.
Invest in a great Jewellery box to separate out your earrings, rings and bracelets, and make them easily accessible. Invest in a necklace tree to hang those long chain and statement necklaces – having them on display and easily hanging on a loop means you will wear them more often. If you’re a DIY woman, buy a cork board and hang pieces on pins. If you have jewelry that tarnishes, keep it away from moisture. Always protect your jewellery from water, knocks, scratches, chemicals, sunlight and heat/cold to minimize these effects. Redesign your pieces of jewellery. Turn a pendant, necklace, earrings, and/or rings into new pieces of jewelry.
I will work with you to create a unique and custom design that is completely your own and one-of-a-kind.
Have a great weekend! xx

Each piece of Standout Boutique jewellery is hand-crafted and requires delicate handling. Avoid direct contact with chemical/ grease and very high temperature. Gently wipe with a soft jewellery cloth and store in a jewellery box or velvet bag.
Do not spray on perfume or other sprays while wearing your gold or silver plated jewellery. Wear your jewellery after you have sprayed on your favorite perfume so that chemicals on the spray or perfume does not interact with your jewellery’s metal.
Do not put away gold plating and silver plating together. The different metals will cause each other to tarnish, fade and/or turn colors.
Don’t use traditional jewellery cleaners on your plated jewellery, or any other chemical-filled solution, not even toothpaste. Instead, rely on a soft cotton cloth and warm water, but only if you must. If you have to, you can use a miniscule amount of liquid soap, but you should only do this when needed. You should limit its exposure to water as well.
Plated metals can retain their shine for longer when kept in a sealed plastic bag when not in use.

A pearl necklace is such a classic piece of jewellery that it works for almost any occasion. Pearls have an effortless elegance about them and can be dressed up or dressed down. Keep in mind that a pearl necklace isn’t only for fancy formal occasions. When it’s dressed down, it can look flirty and fun – perfect for picnics, coffee dates and casual get-togethers. The great thing about pearl earrings is that they can be as easily worn with a casual T-shirt and jeans as they can with a cocktail dress.
Check out how Kelly from Valentina and Aveline styled a long pearl necklace with gold-plated flower pendant and freshwater pearl earrings from Standout Boutique.

Accessorizing is all about enhancing your personal style. Specifically, the jewellery you choose and how you wear it helps to define your look. You can do multiples of the same material, or better yet, go for contrast.
For today’s story, Kelly from Valentina & Aveline is showing how to layer delicate gold chevron and wishbone necklaces by Standout Boutique.

What do you think of these 2014 Fall colours?
Take a look at the must have colours for Fall/Winter 2014-15. They are equally as bold for men as they are for women. Fall is the time for warm, rich and cozy colours.
According to Fashion Snoops, for Fall/Winter 2014-15 they've divided women's colors into families by tones, including Soft, Bright, Neutral, Jewel and Metallic. Jewel Tones become the most influential by far, with highlights including several red options from cranberry to crimson, along with honey mustard and cooler shades of teal, orchid and cobalt. Also influential are the Soft Tones, which rely primarily upon pastel shades like dusty rose, while neutrals like peachy nude are also present. The Brights, which have been so popular in recent seasons, are scaled back, while prerequisite pops of blood orange compliment cobalt. A wide range of Neutrals zero in on toffee as a favorite.
What colour do you like the most for accessories?
